How do you not have Bruce Dickinson in the top 64 vocalists? His power and range are unmatched other than Freddie Mercury….Thats a big mistake ….

  2. DAB23 Says:

Really…what the hell were you thinking leaving Dickinson out? I don’t get it. I know he wouldn’t have won anyway. People on this poll are going to vote for artists they hear on hot hits 106 or the equivalent. Dickinson is never on the radio so people don’t know him. I’m surprised you didn’t enter eminen and Justin F-ing Timberlake in the vocalists poll…they prob actually would have received votes…good god

  3. Nate Kushner Says:

I agree! What’s with Emily Dickinson not being in the songwriter bracket? It’s a TRAVESTY! Give me five!

  4. DAB23 Says:

    Suck Balls…

  5. alex Says:

Fuck we forgot “Weird Al” for frontman

    Good call…he’d fit right in

  7. Schwah Says:

My (off the top of my head) #1 missing person in each category:

Frontman: Bjork (yes - i know - loved as much as hated. I happen to love her). Also the lack of any rappers is striking, but how do you compare them to singers?

Bassist: Larry Graham (Sly & the Family Stone, Graham Central Station). This is the biggest ommission. Ask Bootsy how important Larry Graham was.

Drummer: uhhh… Meg White??? Nah, just kidding. Oh, I know! Darren Robinson a.k.a. The Human Beat Box (The Fat Boys).

    Songwriter: Beck Hansen.

Guitarist: I’m not a guitarhead, so I’m just gonna say the guitarist (and unofficial leader) from my favorite band not on the original madness list: Gruff Rhys (Super Furry Animals).

  8. Guinnes Says:

    My Biggest Misses
Frontman - Jeff Buckley (even though I’m neither female nor a navel gazer)
Drummer - Eric “Stumpy Joe” Childs
Songritter - Elvis Costello, Finn Brothers, Acuff/Rose, Jeff Tweedy
Bassist - I think i used all my votes up on songritter, seriously, do we always have to revere the dinosaurs?

  9. A-Thousand-Lies Says:

    Definitely something wrong here.

Frontmen: Maynard James Keenan. Tool and A Perfect Circle - the former being arguably the most successful progressive rock band of the past decade, and the latter being one of the most respected modern supergroups. Also, where’s Perry Farrel? He created Lollapalooza and fronted one of the most important bands of the early 90s.

Drummer: Josh Freese. Come on! He’s frigging omnipresent! You miss him yet include Travis Barker?

  10. nomargparra Says:

    songwriter-john lennon/paul mccartney
drummer- carter beauford/mitch mitchell/ringo starr in that order
guitar player -jimi hendrix/trey anastasio/clapton in that order
bass player - bootsy collins/paul mccartney
frontman- john lennon/dave matthews/eddie vedder/jim morrison in that order

  11. XxLoveYorHatexX Says:

I’m glad that you have Davey Havok as a dream lead singer but i’m kinda disapointed that he’s not in the songwriters as well, he writes all of AFI’s lyrics and if you ever like just read them they are absolutly amazing

Ringo? Really? All he did was keep the beat and not fuck up.

‘You don’t know I am so,
you can not get close to me
and I don’t know who you are,
    so just leave me alone.
    I know you can’t believe
    the anxiety you’re causing me
and I know you can’t believe
your fake compassion I don’t need.
Get away from me, You’re standing too close.
Keep your hands off of me.
Keep away from me, Just leave me alone,
who said you could touch me anyway?’

    Damn, that’s just brilliant.

  14. Zach Says:

Zack Morris Really should be in guitarist and not front man if that clip shows the regular role he played in the band.

    ———-
(s)he’s refering to something more like this

    “…but home is nowhere”

    Twenty-six years and
    seems like I’ve just begun
To understand my, my intimate is no one
When the director sold the show,
    who bought its last rites?
    They cut the cast,
    the music, and the lights
This is my line, this is eternal
How did I ever end up here?
    Discarnate, preternatural
    My prayers to disappear
Absent of grace, marked as infernal
Ungranted in dead time left me disowned
    To this nature, so unnatural
    I remain alone
    Twenty-six years end,
    still speaking in these tongues
    Such revelations
    while understood by no one
When the new actor stole the show,
    who questioned his grace?
Please clear the house of ill-aquired taste
I lay strewn across the floor,
    can’t solve this puzzle
    Everyday another small piece
    can’t be found
I lay strewn across the floor,
    pieced up in sorrow
    The pieces are lost,
    these pieces don’t fit
    Pieced together incomplete and empty

  16. xonedarkflamex Says:

    or these BLAQKAUDIO lyrics

    “Black-Ink Style”

So she found him in a sprawl, collapsed and glowing pale
on the ground. His hair spread like a melting angel
like a fire crawling across the floor.
In this moment, in this still inchoate
    she loves him.
In this moment, in this light she loves him like no one has.
    He held onto elegance easily.
She’d never seen him this way.
She holds on to this picture lit perfectly
and she holds the dust forever.
So he finds her in a sprawl, woven deep in memories revisited and reworked.
The scars get covered up with cherry blossoms that never felt
    as soft as this
    He held onto elegance easily.
She’d never seen him this way.
She holds on to this picture lit perfectly
and she holds the dust forever.
Freeze the frame right here he found the perfect pose.
    It comes to him naturally.
    Surely you must remember him?

  17. Zach Says:

    Ah get born, keep warm
Short pants, romance, learn to dance
    Get dressed, get blessed
    Try to be a success
Please her, please him, buy gifts
    Don’t steal, don’t lift
    Twenty years of schoolin’
And they put you on the day shift
    Look out kid
    They keep it all hid
    Better jump down a manhole
    Light yourself a candle
    Don’t wear sandals
    Try to avoid the scandals
    Don’t wanna be a bum
    You better chew gum
    The pump don’t work
‘Cause the vandals took the handles

  18. trey2254 Says:

    Mick Jagger-Front man
    Stewart Copeland-Drummer
    Phil Lesh-Bassist
    Lennon/McCartney-Songwriter

  19. yortisme Says:

Just a couple of things… Why is Gene Simmons in the front man category instead of the bassist category? Paul Stanley was the front man for Kiss. Secondly Where was John 5 in the guitarist category? Not only was he the lead guitarist for two of the more heavier bands of our time (Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie), but his solo work is mind numbing! He is the closest thing to Hendirx our generation has.

  20. DAB23 Says:

I tend to admire some of Davey Havok’s newer , less known lyrics…
    and I quote…
    ” I suck balls, I’m a fake…
I suck Balls, vote for me, it’s not to late…
    I suck balls, I shouldn’t be on this list…
I suck balls, AFI fans are gonna be pissed…
I suck balls, I shouldn’t be in this competition..
I suck balls, maybe I’ll just go fishin…
I suck balls, why am I in this poll…
I suck balls, Me, AFI and all our fans should just crawl into a hole!!”
as u can see…unique, drama filled and overflowing with emotion..

*oozing with sarcasm* Wow! You should be in the competition too, because you know how to rhyme!

Oh and I don’t think it’s necessary to put quotation marks around your own lyrics ;)

  26. MikeRose Says:

No Dave Matthews in songwriting? You have to admit he is one of the best songwriters of our time. Lyrically and musically….

  27. Bildo9 Says:

You guys stole my fucking idea. After my buds and I filled out your brackets, and made some of our own, we were about to make one for individual categories. Thanks for ruining what would have been a great night of partying and shit-talking for us!

Yea I am not a huge fan of his(although I do love Beauford’s drumming)but I think he def does deserve to at least be on here.

  29. Catsparrow Says:

frontman-Iggy Pop or possibly Patti Smith
    Drummer-mitch mitchell
    bassist-Kim Deal
songwriter-maybe Elvis Costello, or Patti Smith could write the songs too.
guitarist-totally random but Rick Miller from Southern Culture On The Skids. He’s a freaking awesome guitar player.
