the AFI fans are sure taking advantage of their parents and school’s/libraries computers. nice to see some innovation.
28 March 2007 at 1:54 am Eastern
and for god’s sake will you people vote in all the freakin matchups. have some respect for the guys who worked so hard to put this together for you.
28 March 2007 at 1:58 am Eastern
Remember everyone, you’re voting for whichever band is the newest and trendiest. If you vote for an older or less hip band simply because you prefer their music, Chris Coleman WILL kick your ass.
After all, when’s the last time you saw Chuck Berry or Buddy Holly on the cover of Spin? When’s the last time Bob Dylan had an album named Rolling Stone’s Album of the Year? (yes, I realize lol)
Don’t trust any musician over 30.
Coming next year… top seed Lily Allen, provided she’s not washed up by then.
Also, anyone caught voting for Aerosmith with have flying monkeys sent after them.
28 March 2007 at 2:04 am Eastern
Don’t you just hate it when a band you really like loses out to a lesser band whose fan messageboard floods the voting, hayley?
I mean, sure, you feel bad for the fans so desperate to validate their favorite band’s worth that they would do something like that, but that doesn’t make it any less annoying.
I can’t wait to hoist AFI to the rafters with Nine Inch Nails as Band Madness champs. When I think of AFI being in a tournament of 512 artists, I can’t help but feel they’re at least in the top 500 or so.
28 March 2007 at 2:08 am Eastern
well darren it’s all part of the thing we love called bandmadness.
but i can say, with total certainty, that last year’s flooders were of a much higher caliber, music wise.
AFI won’t win. Madonna will rape them til they cry like little girls.
28 March 2007 at 2:08 am Eastern
in case you haven’t noticed, darren, i’ve had a real shit day.
28 March 2007 at 2:10 am Eastern
“I can’t wait to hoist AFI to the rafters with Nine Inch Nails as Band Madness champs. When I think of AFI being in a tournament of 512 artists, I can’t help but feel they’re at least in the top 500 or so.”
yeah. right behind james taylor. and Steven Tyler’s hair.
28 March 2007 at 2:45 am Eastern
Gez Haley..you’re harsh for a sweet girl..
28 March 2007 at 10:12 am Eastern
Is it just me or were the decisions for Brackets C & D much more difficult than they were for A & B? Marvin Gaye vs. The Band?! This early?!
As for AFI, I can’t wait to catch them on tour this summer. Probably on a double bill with Good Charlotte. I’ll be the tall drink of manhood with the steak knives through his ears.
28 March 2007 at 10:27 am Eastern
hayley- sorry I can’t justify voting for a band I’ve never heard of (i.e. Ted Leo & The Pharmacists) and I’m not familiar enough with Tupac’s music (?) to vote for him just for the sake of voting. Do you want me to vote for Tupac just because I’ve heard of him and not heard of Ted Leo & The Pharmacists?
I think not!
When you vote in elections (if you’re even old enough) do you vote for everyone, just for the sake of voting?
relax there girl.
28 March 2007 at 10:32 am Eastern
Woah, I just reread the directions to make sure I was right, but we aren’t voting on age or historical significance (in which case I would vote WAY differently) but based on who we enjoy listening to. I don’t really care how many time’s REM’s three good songs have been played, OK go is more fun to listen to.
and no, i’m not gonna vote in every match up, because i don’t have an informed opinion on all the bands. Voting on whcih name you recognize better if you don’t really know both bands well isn’t so good for anyone either…
28 March 2007 at 10:50 am Eastern
I don’t understand why people spend their time complaining about a band they supposedly don’t care about.
28 March 2007 at 10:52 am Eastern
I did not expect Soundgarden/Phish to be a massacre. I would not even have been surprised to see Phish win that either. I just didn’t think either band had what it took to destroy the other. Weird.
28 March 2007 at 11:16 am Eastern
…a remark about age coming from someone what calls themselves Pickle Spear is amusing. But yes, Haley is of age. But she’s Canadian, so voting doesn’t really mean anything for them. I think they just carve names into sticks, then throw them into Lake Huron, and whichever person’s stick floats to shore first becomes an elected official.
Fair enough, and I agree with your assertion to not vote when you don’t know the bands. However, one of our goals here as well is that people will actually, if they haven’t heard a band, seek them out for their decision. If anything, it will keep you from doing REAL work a little longer (yay!).
Before Internet skepticism starts, we didn’t throw bands in the tournament for that reason. We felt these bands all belonged, and wanted to give people something to talk about.
Maybe we’re just all nerds on this side and research things we don’t know about or of which we are unaware. I don’t know.
28 March 2007 at 11:20 am Eastern
PS: Iron Maiden is only a few votes behind Chuck Berry. Come on, Maiden, make Chuck Berry Run To The Hills…
28 March 2007 at 11:21 am Eastern
1. Because certain artists become ubiquitous to the point of invading every waking moment of our lives (for a current example, see Mellencamp, John C.). We’d love to not think about them, but they refuse to surrender the spotlight.
2. Because it’s well understood that, for all of the empiricism offered by binary dichotomies (Beatles fan vs. Elvis fan), hysteria is what carries the day in competitions such as these. Ergo, a groundswell of negative response is necessary to counteract the bracket-busting capabilities of fansite message board crusades.
3. Because certain bands (objectively) suck and the recognition of that truth will set you free.
28 March 2007 at 11:30 am Eastern
cerb126, you don’t have to vote in *every* matchup, but it’s always nice when people at least look at all of them and vote in the ones where they have an opinion. See AFI vs. Heart. It’s clear that the majority of the AFI fans don’t give a shit about anything except seeing AFI win. They come here, vote for AFI and leave. I’m sure many of them stick around and vote, but most leave as soon as they vote for AFI.
28 March 2007 at 11:31 am Eastern
I’m 24. If you don’t know a band, there’s this nifty feature this year called band profiles. if you click on them, you can listen to them.
lovely.

Matt, they must teach canadian poli sci at penn state
but here in winnipeg, we actually throw the sticks into lake winnipeg.

Hayley,
Can’t we just wait for the Red River to overflow again so that we can toss our sticks down the basement stairs from the comfort of our homes?
28 March 2007 at 11:49 am Eastern
holy crap that’s such a good idea.
i could probably just toss mine from my couch.

“I’m 24. If you don’t know a band, there’s this nifty feature this year called band profiles. if you click on them, you can listen to them.

Not good enough for me. Hearing a little bit of a band wont give me enough information to be able to vote, besides, I am at work and that kind of interweb listening research may be frowned upon here. sorry.
I love this site and I think it’s alot of fun. Not voting in a match up does NOT mean I don’t have any respect for the people who put this together.
28 March 2007 at 12:02 pm Eastern
pickle…at work?? Get your priorities straight
28 March 2007 at 12:03 pm Eastern
no, you’re very much right, it doesn’t.
however, when fanboards come here and vote for one single matchup, it has the capacity to bring down the actual point of the competition.
last round the numbers between matchups were pretty high, and that is generally avoidable if people vote in all the matchups that are provided.
The message is that if it is feasible, please do so. If it is not, then it is not.
The issue is not with individuals, it is with people who come, vote in one matchup and then leave. it was a huge problem last year (with the message boards for 3 bands in particular, depeche mode, oasis and nine inch nails) and i just hope it doesn’t become a trend again this year.
28 March 2007 at 12:05 pm Eastern
i would also like to point out that i do not necessarily mean the AFI fanboards, as I am sure they may think so. that’s not the case.
last year, other fanboards were way worse. if AFI beat Heart, more power to them, if all the matchups are more or less on equal footing.
28 March 2007 at 12:07 pm Eastern
DAB 23 - priorities, schmiorities
hayley, I see what you’re saying about the one single match up thing. If it’s feasible I will, if it’s not, I won’t
28 March 2007 at 12:11 pm Eastern
Pickle, to say I was high strung last night would be the understatement of the year.
Just wait til the oasis fans show up
28 March 2007 at 12:13 pm Eastern
whats a schmiority???

Ok, I have to draw everyone’s attention away from bandmadness for a moment.
A few days ago something amazing happened. something in my lovely city that has now created a privacy regulation upheaval.
I bring you, ladies and gentleman, a tour of my fantastic city. Along with a guy taking a poo in a potted plant.
yes.

28 March 2007 at 12:29 pm Eastern
This is YOUR midday recap!
It’s a bevy of blowouts so far, with Zeppelin, CCR, Cream, Metallica, White Stripes, Beck, Tom Petty, Johnny Cash, Jefferson Airplane, Sex Pistols, Aerosmith, Weezer, Van Halen, Aretha Franklin, The Who, Fleetwood Mac, Neil Young, U2, Blondie, James Brown, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd, Foo Fighters, REM, Black Sabbath, Eagles, The Boss, The Ramones, Iggy Pop, Ray Charles, Bob Dylan, Soundgarden, The Doors, Prince, The Cars and Elton John enjoying 150+ vote leads.
The closest match is Chuck Berry On Top (get it?) with a 2 vote lead over Iron Maiden. Also, Heart holds a 27 vote lead on AFI. 20 votes separate Earth Wind and Fire from tying it up with They Might Be Giants, and Cheap Trick is creeping up on Publice Enemy, with only 17 votes separation.
In other news, Dave matthews v. Fatboy Slim continues to be the “Why the hell are these two in the tourney at all?!” matchup of this bracket.
And who invited Basement Jaxx????
28 March 2007 at 12:32 pm Eastern
Some of us have our own computers, thank you very much.
Why is it that I have only recently discovered that the internet is full of angry, spiteful people who take delight in insulting people and the things they hold dear? I’m sure it was always as such, but man. I’ve run into nothing but haters of late. Sadface…
28 March 2007 at 12:34 pm Eastern
I’m sorry. let’s hug it out and have a lovefest.
28 March 2007 at 12:36 pm Eastern
I’m sorry. let’s hug it out and have a lovefest.
As long as we use e-protection.
28 March 2007 at 12:37 pm Eastern
**Sniff** Wow, Veoki, you’ve opened my eyes. What a small, petty spiteful life I’ve been living all these years. And to think, all it took was a post on a site by someone I’ll never never meet to make me see the error of my ways.
Wait, no. The sniffling is just allergies.
Nevermind.
28 March 2007 at 12:39 pm Eastern
Sarcasm overload.
It never hurt anyone to simply be ni– well, not nice per say. More like not mean. I just don’t understand it myself. Do you have some sort of sick chuckle to yourself afterwards, thinking about how clever you are? Eh, to each his own.
28 March 2007 at 12:41 pm Eastern
veoki, everyone here has jabs at everyone else.
i give them, and I take them. and so does everyone here, for the most part.
no one is sitting here saying “oh what can I say that will be so mean”, no one is trying to hurt anyone’s feelings.
28 March 2007 at 12:48 pm Eastern
All i was trying to say is that no one should be sensitive on a comment thread. Crazy things will be said, negative things about things someone might like, etc. Just roll with it.
It’s not like we’re going to kill your pet. Yet.
28 March 2007 at 12:51 pm Eastern
OOOO the drama…What is this weekday afternoon television???
28 March 2007 at 12:52 pm Eastern
If someone shows up claiming to be the illegitimate daughter of hayley’s evil twin, I’m out of here.
28 March 2007 at 12:54 pm Eastern
Cubicle…that was funny!!!
28 March 2007 at 12:59 pm Eastern
hey, why do I have to be the one with an evil twin??
28 March 2007 at 1:01 pm Eastern
Seriously, if someone is seriously upset about comments on here, I think said person needs to grow a set of balls.
28 March 2007 at 1:01 pm Eastern
May I add:
For real For Real
28 March 2007 at 1:02 pm Eastern
Alas, this is where the road ends for Wilco. Let’s have a moment of silence.
OK, moment’s over. Let’s get to the rest of my comments.
Ben Folds vs. Steely Dan - this has to be the most Adult Contemporary matchup ever. Well, maybe if you added Train and The Fray it would be.
I can take Buddy Holly beating Modest Mouse, but are you really suggesting that you’d rather listen to Stevie Ray than YYY’s?
Can we get better brackets? I really like Rush and New Order, but they ran into the insurmmountible roadblocks The Who and Pink Floyd. (and yes I voted for the leaders. I’m not that stupid.)
Why is The Flaming Lips-Weird Al race even close? “Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots” singlehandedly beats Weird Al.
28 March 2007 at 1:03 pm Eastern
Well, I could insert a comment about a certain band/emo/depressed people but I will refrain, as it would be mean.
28 March 2007 at 1:06 pm Eastern
Well, I could insert a comment about a certain band/emo/depressed people but I will refrain, as it would be mean.
I can tell that you’ve laid something down here but I can’t quite pick it up.
I think I’m going to get back to work here.
BTW- is there no RSS feed here or am I missing it?
28 March 2007 at 1:08 pm Eastern
——–
I think for most AC matchup that jack johnson would have to be involved.
I like the YYY’s, but Stevie’s in the top 5 of my all-time guitar gods, and “Texas Flood” is one of my favorite songs ever.
As for the Flaming Lips and Weird Al: Some people prefer a little amount of wierdness in their music (Lips), and some people prefer a LOT (Weird Al). Also, Flaming Lips aren’t for everyone, and Weird Al has a lot of name recognition with the masses.
28 March 2007 at 1:11 pm Eastern
yeah, amish paradise is a sweet tune.
ha
28 March 2007 at 1:13 pm Eastern
but in all fairness, alot of people don’t actually like the flaming lips. they’re one of those bands you get or you don’t. like bjork.
28 March 2007 at 1:14 pm Eastern
I’m sorry, but I missed the whole “The Worst Song Ever Written” post, and I wanted you all to be aware of this little item from the village voice. (if you haven’t already read it)
It’s a graphical dissertation on “This is Why I’m Hot”
http://www.villagevoice.com/music/0711,harvilla,76021,22.html
How do you insert hyperlinks? I feel so technologically inferior to all you folks out there… I and I work for an IS department, go figure…
28 March 2007 at 1:16 pm Eastern
Is anyone else having a problem with the posts being cut off to the left side of your screen?
It’s kind of like looking at a page in a book that was scanned or Xeroxed.
trippy
28 March 2007 at 1:17 pm Eastern
Fair enough, but they’re facing a guy who just writes funny lyrics and plays the accordion. And for every one sweet song of Weird Al’s you get another terrible one. “Canadian Idiot” anyone?
28 March 2007 at 1:17 pm Eastern
really? that’s weird. what browser do you use?
28 March 2007 at 1:19 pm Eastern
Cubical: Yeah I’m having that same problem. I have no idea if what I’m typing is acually right.
28 March 2007 at 1:19 pm Eastern
OK, now it fixed itself. Weird.
28 March 2007 at 1:20 pm Eastern
NWA is being crushed by Blondie.
Earth, Wind and Fire is losing to They Might be Giants.
Who are you people?
28 March 2007 at 1:20 pm Eastern
I’m having that problem too.
COLEMAN!
(he’s the easiest one for me to blame, because he’s family)
28 March 2007 at 1:21 pm Eastern
I’m having the same issue. My office uses Explorer. Which sucks (there aren’t and MS fanboys out there whose feelings I’ve just hurt, are there?).
28 March 2007 at 1:25 pm Eastern
same issue here
28 March 2007 at 1:29 pm Eastern
hmm. odd.
god bless apple
28 March 2007 at 1:30 pm Eastern
I’m on IE too. It seems like the left margin of the screen is moving left to right and back like a wave over the course of the page. Wierd.
28 March 2007 at 1:33 pm Eastern
So what music are you guys listening to right now as you bitch about how:
people have no respect for rap
people have no respect for the Flaming Lips
People have no respect for AFI
you can’t believe people like the (above groups)?
I’m jammin’ to “Peaches & Cream” by Beck.
28 March 2007 at 1:35 pm Eastern
!!!
28 March 2007 at 1:36 pm Eastern
Yeah, I’m in Firefox at home and everything is good, but on IE the message board is a total mess. It runs to the left, the post sometimes have verticle bars on them. Every other post is in a pale blue, with white text, making it kind of hard to read.
28 March 2007 at 1:37 pm Eastern
chris knows, i’m sure, and will fix it.
28 March 2007 at 1:38 pm Eastern

28 March 2007 at 1:58 pm Eastern
Hey! the screen problem is fixed! Thanks guys!
28 March 2007 at 2:00 pm Eastern
IE is such a piece of shit. I fixed the problem as best I can. The plugin we’re using for comment quoting isn’t really what I had hoped for. But let’s be honest. Every other browser does it right. Despite the fact that Microsoft is a giant corporation, they still can’t make a web browser without totally fucking it up. If you think IE is shitty to use, try building web sites that work the same in it as they do in real browsers (Mozilla, Safari and Opera).
28 March 2007 at 2:01 pm Eastern
Also, if you can use it, the site is a lot prettier in every browser that isn’t IE.
28 March 2007 at 2:04 pm Eastern
Work computer. Sorry.

Well, I’ve been listening to Mastodon’s newest album Blood Mountain. That reminds me, I need a T-shirt that says “I love prog”.
28 March 2007 at 2:29 pm Eastern
Dinosaur Jr have less than 30%….against Aerosmith!!!!
this madness has gone too far.
28 March 2007 at 2:32 pm Eastern
btw, are we ever going to get a re-cap of bracket D?
28 March 2007 at 3:35 pm Eastern

They have 30% now, bastian.
“Chip away, Chip away at the stone!”

Wow Coleman! This does look 1000% better on Firefox. It’s also prettier in my new monitor, but that raises all kinds of issues at work, because even with the privacy screen, my office mate can see that I’m wasting time. That’s why I usually just use that one for excel spreadsheets.
Excel=the appearance of being busing = cloaking band madness/ myspace = A not so bad day at work
Most of my work apps don’t work on firefox, but from this point on, I solemnly swear to open firefox for the purposes of Band Madness.
And people don’t like the Flaming LIps? For real for real?
28 March 2007 at 3:43 pm Eastern
For real for real, tarp. Stage show aside, the Lips have a really trippy sound that I don’t get. Except for “She Don’t Use jelly”, that song is AWESOME.
28 March 2007 at 3:48 pm Eastern
Loving it hayley! Although, was I the only female who has seen this movie to think that those guys needed a bigger bra than I did? Their pecs were enormous!
28 March 2007 at 3:50 pm Eastern
you’re kidding right? I mean, I understand not all people like trippy music. Ok. Got it. That being said, of all songs by the Flaming Lips you think that song is awesome? I also think it a great song, but every song off of Yoshime Battles the Pink Robots can kick “She Don’t Use Jelly”’s ass. It’s like musical cannibalism.
28 March 2007 at 3:51 pm Eastern
Rick James is losing, bitches. What’s up with that? He was by far more talented than the Sex Pistols.
28 March 2007 at 3:52 pm Eastern
Dead Kennedys v. the Foo…I don’t know if I can pick this one. Someone else do it for me, please.
28 March 2007 at 3:57 pm Eastern
you’re kidding right? I mean, I understand not all people like trippy music. Ok. Got it. That being said, of all songs by the Flaming Lips you think that song is awesome? I also think it a great song, but every song off of Yoshime Battles the Pink Robots can kick “She Don’t Use Jelly”’s ass. It’s like musical cannibalism.
——
“She Don’t Use Jelly” is played constantly on my satellite radio and has slowly grown on me. I imagine the other songs would too over time, but I just don’t care enough to try. Sorry.
Oh, and nin4eva, you’re either being sarcastic, or you’re a moron. Sure, the Sex Pistols are the most overrated band ever (one album, people!), but they sure kick Rick James’ ass.
Just remember, Rick James is the reason Eddie Murphy had a record career.
28 March 2007 at 3:59 pm Eastern
More talented, for sure. More influential? Probably not. But if more people like the Sex Pistols, there’s not much we can do, aside from remind them that they’re supposed to be voting for the one they like better, not which one was more influential.
28 March 2007 at 4:03 pm Eastern
Yo fucker, Rick James could carry a tune while the Sex Pistols had no idea what the hell they were even playing when they were on stage. Who gives a fuck about Eddie Murphy? We are talking Rick.
“I’m Rick James, bitch!” (I love Dave Chappelle).
28 March 2007 at 4:04 pm Eastern
Sex Pistols suck ass. The only good thing they ever did was have a band member die…much like Nirvana.
28 March 2007 at 4:07 pm Eastern
Name four rick james songs.
28 March 2007 at 4:08 pm Eastern
I’m not disagreeing, I’m just saying they’re better than Rick James.
28 March 2007 at 4:18 pm Eastern
Rick James:
Tell Me (What U Want)
Give it to me Baby
Sexy Lady
Mary Jane
SuperFreak (everyone knows that one)
My older brother was a big Rick James/ Prince fan. I know my shit when it comes to those artists (by default, mind you). No way are the pistols better than Rick…no fucking way.
But as Chris states, its opinions that count on this site…which leads to the flame wars they love so much. (I admit I love them too.)
28 March 2007 at 4:18 pm Eastern
Oh, and fuck you all.
28 March 2007 at 4:20 pm Eastern
Oh yeah?
Well…
28 March 2007 at 4:21 pm Eastern
See, that was just being provocative for it’s own sake.
The Sex Pistols may very well be overrated. I won’t dispute that. But, without Dave Chappelle, we’re not talking about Rick James. And, without Eddie Murphy, we’re not talking about Dave Chappelle.
Fuck your couch.
28 March 2007 at 4:21 pm Eastern
Nine Inch Nails suck!!

I couldn’t type the above with a straight face.
28 March 2007 at 4:23 pm Eastern

What the hell…! Fuck Bandmadness for not recognizing the heart sign!
28 March 2007 at 4:30 pm Eastern
I agree. NIN sux.
28 March 2007 at 4:33 pm Eastern
That’s becuase we don’t have hearts.
Can’t someone rid this bracket of its Oasis problem?
Cubicle Captive - I love your idea of posting what you’re listening too as you bitch about other bands. Here it goes:
AFI sucks.
I’m listening to Bobby Bare Jr. (album: The Young Criminals Starvation League). I am eternally glad that BB Jr. did not appear on this bracket becuase of the heartbreak I would endure seeing him lose to wastes of time like AFI or the Dave Matthews Band.
28 March 2007 at 4:42 pm Eastern
Eventually, someone will get rid of Oasis, but it sure won’t be Jeff Buckley.
28 March 2007 at 4:54 pm Eastern
My anger will only build until that fateful day.
The only thing keeping my urge to kill sedated is the fact that I know a whole lot more about Canadian voting methods now than I did 10 minutes ago.
…that and fear of being gunned down by the police…
28 March 2007 at 5:04 pm Eastern
Oh, don’t worry about the cops. They hate Oasis too.
But the Canadian voting process can mesmerize a man for days…
28 March 2007 at 5:07 pm Eastern
Yeah, we love us some democracy in Canada. That’s why we feel compelled to hold a federal election every Spring (for the foreseeable future).
28 March 2007 at 5:07 pm Eastern
One last comment: Weird Al is not “Weird” at all. He’s just a goofy looking idiot who can happen to write a song now and then that illicits a small chuckle. He was also the least funny character in UHF.

Do you think it will be next round in the Oasis vs. Gorrilaz matchup? I *really* don’t like Oasis but I’m not convinced that the Gorrilaz can pull it off.
28 March 2007 at 5:24 pm Eastern
Well, at least you won’t have people who vote for Oasis because they don’t know the other band/artist.
You’d be suprised by the number of people who don’t know Jeff Buckley. Or maybe you won’t.
28 March 2007 at 5:38 pm Eastern
Reasons you may have voted for Elton John over Curtis Mayfield:
1) You have OCD and can only vote for the first artist in each pair.
2) You somehow read “The Beatles” instead of “Elton John.”
3) You are Elton John.*
4) Curtis Mayfield accidentally burned your house down.
5) You hate music.
Seriously, though, what the Hell?
28 March 2007 at 5:40 pm Eastern
Sorry, I meant to add an asterisked footnote.
* No, even Elton John would vote for Curtis Mayfield.
28 March 2007 at 6:29 pm Eastern
Phish losing to Soundgarden would be like Trey going to Thanksgiving dinner at NYEMIA’s house and finding out there are no fruitcups.
Am I right??

28 March 2007 at 7:28 pm Eastern
Geez, The Doors put me to sleep, even though I am a lover of most classic rock. Must they win everything?
28 March 2007 at 7:41 pm Eastern
Hey, who remembers when I was a real asshole last year and threatened to ban idiots who post dumb shit like dingbat just did? Just because I haven’t had to make any threats doesn’t mean I’m not still an asshole.
28 March 2007 at 7:41 pm Eastern
They wouldn’t win against The Phish, that’s for sure.
28 March 2007 at 8:43 pm Eastern
Metallica beating Incubus? Thank you white trash Metal van driving pieces of 80’s trash. And Blondie? Fucking Blondie over N.W.A.? Last but not least (that is except for talent level)Phish? I see the patchouli wearing tree huggers are out in full effect, I thought you dirtbags were all about saving the world not voting out a way more talented band. For like the 3rd time in a row, You people disgust me.
28 March 2007 at 8:49 pm Eastern
After my usual perusal of the various fanboards for some of the bands in the tournament, I feel compelled to say this.
Please, vote for who you like more. Strategically voting for one band as opposed to another simply because your favorite has a better chance of beating said band next round is not what this is about.
Vote for who you like better. and if your favorite band wins, by merit and true votes alone, awesome.
but quit trying to ruin the entire thing, please.

28 March 2007 at 9:55 pm Eastern
Ha, most Phish phans can’t figure out how to turn on a shower much less work a computer. I wouldn’t bother trying to track these heady bastards down.
Dakka dakka
28 March 2007 at 9:56 pm Eastern
Can I ask one question? Who the hell told the Phish fansite about this? Once you call a band that was formed in the early 90’s “KneWBS”, you deserve to be kicked really, really hard.
28 March 2007 at 9:57 pm Eastern
probably oasis.
28 March 2007 at 10:06 pm Eastern
who the hell told you that phish was formed in the early 90’s KneWB. Self’d to the max

Somehow the wooks managed to find this top-secret and clearly important competition with the diligent use of their internet decoder rings.
Those wooks will shock ya, I tells ya.
No need to get so riled up about. Relax, crush a calzone or something. You’ll feel better.
28 March 2007 at 10:25 pm Eastern
You called Soundgarden “KneBS”. And they were formed in the early 90’s. Late 80’s at best.
28 March 2007 at 10:25 pm Eastern
Or, more appropriately, they hit you.
It’s ok, these things tend to work themselves out.
well…considering they’ll be up against dylan next, i’d have to say you’re right.

Steely Dan’s beating Ben Folds. A mild surprise.
Buddy Holly vs. Modest Mouse is a pretty close match for me.
Lotsa blowouts this round. Ok… wheat goes that way… and Genesis goes that way…
Blondie’s beating NWA? Big surprise there. Demographics be damned, I still think that would be an upset.
Ted Leo’s surprisingly close to Tupac. I never realized they were so well-known.
Granted he should beat the Bee Gees this round, but next round can we finally prove to Paul that we’ve had enough of shitty love songs?
Crosby, Stills and Nash is beating the B-52s? Umm, ok… I guess the masses prefer lame to weird.
Blur and Queens of the Stone Age are neck and neck. I favor Queens, but it’s not like I’d get upset if Blur won.
Foo Fighters and Dead Kennedys in the 2nd round? Ouch. That’s at least a round too soon.
Iggy Pop is kicking Moby’s ass, which is surprising. I mean, they basically play the same kind of music, right? lol
AFI’s fans are still stacking the deck, but at least it’s not to a 70-30 Nine Inch Nails type of scale. Heart should definitely win that match.
In fact, it’s very obvious that Phish is the latest band whose fans are so insecure that they feel the need to recruit voters for this competition. I wonder if Soundgarden can mount a comeback once the Phish fans get distracted with hackey sack, drum circles or the munchies.
TMBG and Earth, Wind and Fire are neck and neck. Neither one has a chance next round against The Doors or Prince, though.
Oasis fans haven’t been roused from their caves yet, I see.
Dire Straits has pulled ahead of Gorillaz. It’ll be interesting to see how that pans out and if either can knock out Oasis next round.
Marvin Gaye and the Band are 6 votes apart!
28 March 2007 at 10:29 pm Eastern
little richard is losing to INXS?! yeah, thats pretty damn right…greaaaaaat music taste.
heart is losing to AFI?! hmm, sexist too…
