Band Madness!
Band Madness: Round 4
Here are the results! Dave Matthews’s fans came out of nowhere for a win this round. Actually, I’m guessing they came out of frat houses, but you know what I mean. AFI managed to hang on for one more round. They’ve got the fans, but have they got the momentum? We’ll find out in Round 5, starting on Monday. But come and hang out all weekend on the comment boards, and be sure to vote in the mini tournament, Band Sadness, where we’re out to find who the saddest band is.

Easiest Choice: Beatles-Journey. ‘Nuff Said
Hardest Choice: Police-Prince. This is pretty much my childhood at war with it self. My dad loved both of these acts, so I like them both a lot too. But Prince’s music is just awesome, he wins.
The “Do-I-have-to-vote-for-one-of-these-guys” matchup: Beastie Boys-Lynyrd Skynyrd. I don’t like these groups. At all. I vote for the Beastie Boys, solely on Sabotoge.
The choice that will make the most people angry at me: Paul Simone over Depeche Mode. Paul Simon is a musical genius and his music is much more pleasant to my ears than DM’s. More comments after I get some sleep.

“The choice that will make the most people angry at me: Paul Simone over Depeche Mode. Paul Simon is a musical genius and his music is much more pleasant to my ears than DM’s”
you’re dead to me.
9 April 2007 at 12:32 am Eastern
Cream or Zeppelin was a really tough choice. In fact, I don’t even remember which one I voted for.
9 April 2007 at 1:07 am Eastern
Most WTF result so far:
(tie)
Rolling Stones over Velvet Underground
(People will call listenability into it but I have every VU album and zero Stones, at least the Velvets broke up and avoided spiraling into pitiable old age)
Guns n’ Roses over Neil Young
(Do I have to explain? After the Gold Rush or Appetite for Destruction? I will give you that everything Young has done since Harvest has pretty much sucked but come on, Chinese Democracy?)
Runner Up:
Stevie Wonder over The Pixies
(This one is pure preference and was a tough choice but while The Pixies’ last two albums were really shitty Stevie Wonder managed to stretch shittiness across two decades, and counting.)
9 April 2007 at 1:35 am Eastern
Man.
Even I have to admit that AFI sticks out like a sore thumb.
I feel like such a traitor.
9 April 2007 at 1:36 am Eastern
only about as much as green day.
9 April 2007 at 1:40 am Eastern
I guess if you were a teen when American Idiot came out, you have it hammered home that Green Day are some kinds of gods of rock. Which they aren’t. But it sure felt like it back in 11th grade. All those awards…
9 April 2007 at 1:42 am Eastern
lol i most definitely was not.
9 April 2007 at 1:43 am Eastern
i can see your point though.
and to be fair to them, their older stuff, way way older, is better.
9 April 2007 at 1:52 am Eastern
Oh. Dear. God. I am experiencing an overload… too many difficult choices! Queen v. Grateful Dead? Led Zeppelin v. Cream? (I believe I ended up choosing Queen and Zeppelin) Also worth mentioning, why are The Doors anywhere NEAR Dylan? And who knew Weezer had so many fans? Quite honestly, for reasons unknown to me, my ears cannot tolerate Van Halen with ANY of the various lead singers, despite some impressive guitar work, but I am surprised that Weezer is even competition.
9 April 2007 at 1:54 am Eastern
as much as i’m not a fan of weezer, i’m a big fan of rivers.
mee-ow.
9 April 2007 at 1:56 am Eastern
Haha, I actually love Rivers as well. And I have heard rumors that he can really rip on guitar, which I wish was apparent when listening to Weezer. Like I said, I am simply shocked that so many more people prefer Weezer to VH. But I could not be any happier to see Van Halen lose…
9 April 2007 at 2:00 am Eastern
i fucking hate van halen and find weezer much more enjoyable. i do love the sweater song.
9 April 2007 at 2:02 am Eastern
and it’s totally horrible and shallow of me, but when i’m not a fan of either i’m gonna go with the uber cute indie Harvard grad over…ugh…Van Halen
9 April 2007 at 2:07 am Eastern
did he graduate? I thought he was still going there. When does this round end? Friday?
9 April 2007 at 2:09 am Eastern
“Rolling Stones over Velvet Underground
(People will call listenability into it but I have every VU album and zero Stones, at least the Velvets broke up and avoided spiraling into pitiable old age)”
Didn’t stop Lou Reed, though…
Two decades? Stevie’s been around since the mid-60s.
WHITE: Weezer always has a large and dedicated fan base represented on this site. Just so long as it doesn’t become too large or too dedicated… Didn’t they defeat Hendrix last year? lol
9 April 2007 at 2:10 am Eastern
don’t really know. and wednesday.
9 April 2007 at 2:12 am Eastern
Darren, maybe he meant the past 2 decades have been crap, and everything else was not. i think it’s all crap. with the exception of “i believe”.
not a stevie fan.
yeah weezer has a bigger fanbase than people give them credit for. they’re one of those fly under the radar groups.
i bet there’s all kinds of people on this site right now wearing various kinds of sweater vests….
9 April 2007 at 2:16 am Eastern
Weezer definitely has a superfan base. I’ve met people who ONLY listen to Weezer. Sad really, to be dedicated that much to any one band. It makes me want to hold a telethon or something.
9 April 2007 at 2:18 am Eastern
i’ve met people that are like that for so many bands. it is sad.
in high school it was nirvana. never got that.
9 April 2007 at 2:25 am Eastern
It’s not unusual for a cult of personality to develop around a band whose lead singer died, but Nirvana was pretty revoluationary at the time they became popular. The music was pretty damn good, as well.
9 April 2007 at 2:25 am Eastern
we’ll agree to disagree
9 April 2007 at 4:36 am Eastern
I find that statement very odd. Why does AFI stick out like a sore thumb, and why do you feel like a traitor? I’m confused. AFI certainly doesn’t stick out in a negative way…they are amazing (and imo the best band ever), and I’m proud to vote for them over ANYONE. So please, set me straight, what makes Weezer a better band? Dire Straights? The Pixies? The Foo Fighters? Van Halen??? I’m sorry but I just don’t even get your comment, unless I’m just misinterpreting it. Plus, it really is all subjective, isn’t it?
9 April 2007 at 4:51 am Eastern
I meant that everything Stevie Wonder’s done since around 1985, except for that SNL sketch where Eddie Murphy made fun of his Stevie Wonder impression, has been total shit.
And it’s Velvet Underground, not Lou Reed (and I thought Berlin, Blue Mask, and New York were pretty good - the rest were shit though, i’ll give that to you)
9 April 2007 at 5:48 am Eastern
NOOO! Bob Marley is taking a beating. Lets hope he starts getting more votes. Toughest decision was The Doors vs. Bob Dylan. Shame to see either of them go.
9 April 2007 at 6:04 am Eastern

I think, and this is only what I think Veoki meant, is that there are alot of legendary bands in this round. Bob Marley, Bob Dylan, Queen, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin…AFI isn’t even anywhere near that status yet (except for in the DF) and that makes them stick out.
9 April 2007 at 9:04 am Eastern
wow, seems like black artists get no love, & Pearl Jam is way sweeter than the Clash(even though i am a fan of them also)
9 April 2007 at 9:26 am Eastern
wow lot’s of tough matchups this round!! some because i really enjoy both bands (Dylan/Doors; Skynyrd/Beasties; Clash/Pearl Jam) but there are some i can hardly vote in because i don’t care for either (Dire Straits/Band; Foo/Floyd). ugh.
the thing about weezer for me, is they’re under the radar. i never think of them when i think of my favorite bands, but whenever i pop in one of their ablbums i ask myself why i don’t listen to more of it.
and no, afi is no led zeppelin (who is also one of my favorite bands). that being said, i’d still rather listen to afi at this point in my life.
9 April 2007 at 10:05 am Eastern
I guess this is the round we say goodbye to Talking Heads. Boo-urns. I do just goddamn love that band.
It wasn’t even a hard vote for me, though, cause lately I’ve just been coming around to thinking that Nirvana’s stuff just really hasn’t aged that well.
Has anybody else noticed that about Nirvana?
9 April 2007 at 10:14 am Eastern
i know, it’s a horrible. listenability factor maybe?
I find nirvana dated. I know others view them as a classic. I view them as that 90s grunge band with the lead singer who mysteriously died. I don’t know. I’ve just never been a fan.
9 April 2007 at 10:18 am Eastern
It wasn’t that mysterious
9 April 2007 at 10:40 am Eastern
Talking Heads / Nirvana was the hardest decision I ever had to make. In anything. Ever. Since dinosaurs.
9 April 2007 at 11:07 am Eastern
Yeah, Talking Heads vs. Nirvana was my toughest choice too. I don’t listen to any T. Heads post-Remain In Light but that and Fear of Music are among my all-time favorite records. But I love Bleach and still enjoy Nevermind & In Utero.
In the end, I voted for T. Heads since I figured they would need all the votes they can get.
Thank the lord that the Beatles will finally dispose of whiney Steve Perry and Journey cohorts. Yeesh…

I think nemivicious hit it on the head there; Veoki will likely clarify later. I also wanted to respond to your comment in the last bracket: I had written the description of myself as a young kid listening to a plethora of bands, spanning various genres and time periods, and commented that I agreed that most youth of today is not exposed to enough music. I am a member of the DF and I have listened to AFI for about 6 years now, so I certainly am not hating on AFI or their fanbase. Despite the fact that there are many older fans on the message board, a large percentage of their newer fanbase (now that they are present on MTV and such) is a younger, teenage crowd. And like I said, there are certainly young ones who were like me at that age: well aware of a large span of music. Unfortunately, the majority of youth knows nothing more than whatever plays on the local pop music radio station or Fuse, and therefore misses out on an essential music education of classic or underground bands/genres.
9 April 2007 at 12:13 pm Eastern
Hasn’t aged well?? Like Courtney????
9 April 2007 at 12:14 pm Eastern
I think what makes The Pixies, Weezer, and Foo Fighters better than AFI is the fact that their songs and albums are a lot better than AFI’s.
9 April 2007 at 12:35 pm Eastern
Nirvana is the most overrated band of all time. There is no doubt about it. Sorry Nirvana fans thats just how I feel. I also think Green Day has had a much much better career than the SMashing Pumpkins and I don’t like either band.
9 April 2007 at 12:47 pm Eastern
How is Elton John-Dave Matthews even close? Their music is similar enough that I thought people would vote for the older guy a lot more.
Pearl Jam over The Clash? Seriously, do you like Vedder’s voice?
Pixies are losing? Sad, sad times we are living in.
This board is the whitest thing i’ve ever seen. Prince and James Brown are losing, while three white guys doing what black people do a lot better are going to go on.
9 April 2007 at 12:57 pm Eastern
afi has my vote. no dis-respect to any of the other bands though cause i’m a fan of many of them, but more of an afi fan. i can see how afi may stick out compared to the other bands but really does that mean anything????
9 April 2007 at 1:40 pm Eastern
ha DMB(and it was org DMB)
is so difrent then Elton John.
hell Dave solo is so difrent then Elton John.
9 April 2007 at 2:43 pm Eastern
Has it been changed to Dave Matthews’ solo career? Or is it still Dave Matthews Band?
Either way neither of the two are similar to Elton, although he is a great.
9 April 2007 at 2:44 pm Eastern
OK I was wrong. I was fucking tired this morning and probably slightly delerious. Go ahead and shoot me.
9 April 2007 at 2:50 pm Eastern
I wasn’t being a dick… just stating that i don’t think they’re similar at all..
just your opinion. its cool.
9 April 2007 at 3:00 pm Eastern
I updated it to Dave Matthews Band.
9 April 2007 at 3:03 pm Eastern
I wasn’t being a dick… just stating that i don’t think they’re similar at all..
just your opinion. its cool.
Oh, I know. I’m just admiting I was wrong. I just thought about it a little more and realized how much of a fool I was.
9 April 2007 at 3:40 pm Eastern
That is YOUR opinion only. At least when I make a comment I say that it’s in my opinion, or it’s all subjective. However, I notice on this forum that many of you think you KNOW who is best. That is pompous, arrogant, and condescending. Please realize that we are not all sheeple and we do not all think alike. Just because you may like a “legendary” band, doesn’t mean they are better then a band I like. To say that Weezer, Van Halen and the Foo Fighters have better albums then AFI is absurd…and once again…YOUR OPINION. Ultimately I think that what seperates a good band from a great band is their uniqueness. A band that goes somewhere musically that no one has been before. AFI has contributed just as much to music as any of these other bands or singers imo….it may not be what many of you listen to, but it is unique and in it’s genre - legendary. In the end it comes down to each person’s likes and dislikes. I’m not putting down any other band in this competition, yet many of you continue to mock or put down AFI…not cool.
9 April 2007 at 3:47 pm Eastern
Man, it really grates on me when people use the word “sheeple.” You can just call them sheep! It’s called a metaphor. People will understand what you’re saying if you say sheep. Trust me. I went to college.
9 April 2007 at 3:48 pm Eastern
tarotravern,
this is bandmadness. we all express our opinions. some express their opinions as fact. others, like dan, do it through lighthearted humor and banter.
we also like to egg each other on and call down everyone else’s favorites. take a look at how any digs have been taken at depeche mode, my favorite. frankly, who cares. lighten up a little. this is all in fun.
your opinion is yours, and while i think your statements above are kinda silly in regards to their contribution to the grand scheme of music, you can still have them. no one is saying not to.
feel free to call anyone else’s favorites crap. we don’t care.
ps. afi is gay
9 April 2007 at 3:50 pm Eastern
Ok, let me rephrase what Dan said.
“I think what makes The Pixies, Weezer, and Foo Fighters better than AFI is the fact that their songs and albums are a lot better than AFI’s.”
should have been…
“It is my OPINION that it is a FACT that what makes The Pixies, Weezer, and Foo Fighters better than AFI is the fact that their songs and albums are a lot better than AFI’s.”
Now we just made it, by the ontological proof, so that his opinion is true. It can’t be argued with anymore.
9 April 2007 at 3:51 pm Eastern
don’t trust chris and his whole college bit. he’s just one of those sheeple.
9 April 2007 at 3:54 pm Eastern
sheeple > AFI
9 April 2007 at 4:00 pm Eastern
AFI are melodists.
9 April 2007 at 4:06 pm Eastern
Wow - college…you is smart…I wish someday I could be as smart as you someday!!
Sheep + people = sheeple…..
And you guys tell me to lighten up???? lol
Jeez…sorry I upset you so, by using the word sheeple
SHEEPLE, SHEEPLE, SHEEPLE, SHEEPLE
9 April 2007 at 4:08 pm Eastern
I have an illegitimate half-sheep bastard child*, so I really really take offense to that.

quoted for brilliance.
disclaimer - I in no way condone sheep fucking, fisting or penetration of any nature. This goes for the sheep as well.
9 April 2007 at 4:10 pm Eastern
Yeah, I get it. But it’s the same thing as calling a person a sheep, but without the silly made-up word.
Check it: http://www.answers.com/main/ntquery?gwp=13&s=sheep
See? That’s a sheep. Calling someone a sheep is a metaphor that everybody understands. It’s redundant to say “sheeple.”
9 April 2007 at 4:12 pm Eastern
Chris, in all fairness, Nate’s illegitimate bastard sheep child probably won’t get it.
All you’re doing is giving the poor kid an identity complex. way to go.
9 April 2007 at 4:13 pm Eastern
Here is the church.
Here are the sheeple.
They can’t go in the door
Because of the institutionalized racism of the full-blooded people.
9 April 2007 at 4:13 pm Eastern
tarotraven, I hope you don’t feel like we’re being too hard on you. It’s all in good fun, I swear.
9 April 2007 at 4:15 pm Eastern
i believe the correct terminology is speciesism.
god you sheeple truly are ignorant.
9 April 2007 at 4:16 pm Eastern
wait….the bastard illegitimate sheep child isn’t real?
9 April 2007 at 4:16 pm Eastern
On a music note (bam!), I’m really surprised how big Zeppelin and the Chili Peppers are winning their respective matches, considering their strong opponents.
9 April 2007 at 4:16 pm Eastern
You know, I really just want to be able to do the church sheeple hand game with my son, but I can’t.
But I never can. Granted, that’s not because of racism; it’s because of hooves….
BUT STILL!
9 April 2007 at 4:17 pm Eastern
nemivicious totally hit it on the head.
No matter how much AFI means to me, they are not Led Zeppelin. They are not David Bowie. Their name is not synonymous with “legendary,” “groundbreaking,” “visionary.”
Purely based on fame and acclaim alone, AFI does stick out like a sore thumb.
Unlike the other remaining competitors, they are not staples of modern music.
…YET!!!
9 April 2007 at 4:19 pm Eastern
the same can be said for Van Halen and they’re still in it.
9 April 2007 at 4:23 pm Eastern
My dad still has Van Halen T-Shirts. And I still, at times, fall into the mindset that old music = good music. So, touche.
9 April 2007 at 4:24 pm Eastern
AFI is a staple of Prefab Sprout.
9 April 2007 at 4:25 pm Eastern
hey, come on. friendly banter not malicious evil.
9 April 2007 at 4:29 pm Eastern
Things that AFI probably stands for:
A Feminine Itch.
A Fire Inside
A Fireman Outside
A Fire Truck Outside
A Fire Hydrant Outside
LFO
And I can’t think of any others.
9 April 2007 at 4:29 pm Eastern

9 April 2007 at 4:30 pm Eastern
Heh. We fans have come up with more insulting names then that. “A Fag Inside,” perhaps?
And… A Fire Inside is actually correct.

let’s do MCR now.
I’ll start.

9 April 2007 at 5:19 pm Eastern
How can you guys Dog on AFI? They’ve been around for 15 years and been through alot. And one of the best underground and emo bands around. People look up to them like they kind of look up to their fans for support. And if you guys dont like keep your f*kin mouths shut unless its about your bands. Leave mine alone. Plus they all hot guys and always will be. Their music stand for something they went through or experience along the way. And they started the band while sitting at a lunch table at their school not knowing how to play any instrument and yet they made a big success. No matter what happens I’ll be their fan tell the end. You got that leave they be.

My goodness why is it always the silly can’t-take-a-joke AFI fans who have to leap to defend them? It’s kinda embarassing for the rest of us, geez. And AFI actually stands for A Feminine Italian–because their singer is a feminine Italian hardyhar.

It makes me sick that The Clash is losing right now (Pearl Jam shouldn’t be in the same sentence as The Clash…oops), but there are some great match ups this round.
Plus I hope Metallica goes down in flames. Much dislike of their music, I have.
9 April 2007 at 6:08 pm Eastern
I’m pretty sure AFI will not be taking our ribbing personally. Nor do I think we should have any regard for their feelings because they seem to be doing just fine. It’s all about they music, and I will not leave they be.

YOUR opinion…to me they are “legendary”, “groundbreaking” and definitely “visionary”. I’ve listened to music and seen so many bands live since I’ve been old enough to go to shows…and AFI can hold their own with ANYONE. You have the right to your opinion and I have the right to mine…so w/e.
Just because someone is famous doesn’t make them good….I can give you many examples…Kevin Federline (most americans would know who he is don’t you agree?), Brittany Spears, Ashlee Simpson, the list can go on and on. Equating a bands famousness to how good they are is ridiculous. I think you get my point. And many bands in this competition are not that widely known or highly acclaimed. For example, many people consider Van Halen to be a bad 80’s hair band…what have they done lately? (sorry to any VH fans, Eddie VH is a great guitarist…but that’s where the greatness ends imo)
Lastly AFI is my ONLY “staple” of great modern music. If stranded on an island, with one CD, it would be from AFI…deciding which CD would be the dilemma.
And to Hayley…I don’t really want to knock down other bands (at least at this point in the competition), but I will continue to defend AFI :). I now understand where you all are coming from though, but that’s not something that appeals to me (yeah, I’m no fun like that). Honestly I think all of the bands left deserve respect on some level. Although I personally don’t like listening to most of them it would be hard for me to insult them. But for you to call my statement “silly”, when you call AFI “gay” is ironic. Talk about silly, that is so middle school (but then again….I’m sure your baiting me ;)).

FROM URBAN DICTIONARY:
Un•der•ground (un’der ground’), n., adj.
1) A genre in music and other forms of media intended for an elite audience, that is often characterized by its high levels of originality and experimentation, and does not conform to typical standards, trends, or hypes as set by the popular mainstream media.
I think that just about says it all

legendary isnt something that can be viewed by one person. legendary is generations. its being passed down from father to son to grandson. you cant gain legendary status in 15 years.
also hayley calling afi gay was obviously a joke, one you didnt get. everyone else that read it got the joke which is why youre the only one defending it. and the fact that youre defending makes it even funnier.

VU is great, no question. But the ratio of YOUR VU albums to YOUR Stones’s albums means nothing to the rest of us. Yes, the Stones should’ve hung it up ages ago and should fry for killing Brian Jones. But, at the end of the day, the best Stones work is- to me- better than the best VU work.
Saying Neil Young hasn’t done anything since Harvest is ignorant. SINCE HARVEST? Some of the greatest rock albums ever: Tonight’s The Night, On The Beach, Ragged Glory…Only somebody with a pathetically surface acquaintance with Neil Young would vomit something so ridiculous out.
That said, at least your comment had ZERO to do with AFI. And had something to say.
Also, for the first time, my picks this round are almost always losing. So there you have it.
9 April 2007 at 6:47 pm Eastern
^hey, let’s be nice now.
also, the hardcore movement hasn’t exactly been around forever, so 15 years does make AFI legendary.

The fact that YOU didn’t realize that I knew it was a joke is even funnier….(see above)…apparently you didn’t read my entire post. Notice the wink at the end of the last sentence….chill the fuck out, k?
From Urban Dictionary once again:
3.
1 Adj. Something that is very good, or very high Quality
2 s-a. An expression yelled or shouted when one experiences a pleasant surprise
1. “that was legendary”
2. Family Member: “we just won the lottery”
Self: “LEGENDARY!”

Why are we quoting a reference resource that also contains definitions for a “hot carl” and a “rusty trombone”?
Though funny, the Urban Dictionary isn’t generally used to reference unless a lot of beer has been consumed prior, and the reference is to something vastly inappropriate.
well…that’s how I use it.
9 April 2007 at 7:20 pm Eastern
Wow, sometimes I feel like less of a person for being an AFI fan.
I was reading through all of the people’s comments who were defending AFI. I just want everyone to know that not ALL AFI fans are retards. Or at least I’d like to believe so.
I even found a comment that started off well, saying AFI has been around for 15 years, giving them some credibility. Then it went to call them emo…anyone who actually likes AFI, knows they’re not emo. Even better? They used their LOOKS as a reason why their MUSIC is good. Looks and music DO go hand in hand…
Coming from a non-retard AFI fan:
They have been around for 15 years, and they have grown into very talented musicians. They make their music for themselves and the fans, the REAL fans, who understand that they’re sound will always change. And their looks have nothing to do with their sound. They could be horrendously ugly and still make amazing music.
As far as the other votes? I had quite a hard time choosing between Green Day and The Smashing Pumpkins. I’ve never been much of a fan of TSP, but Green Day has gone so downhill in the last few years. I had to choose GD though, mostly for all the albums BEFORE American Idiot.
9 April 2007 at 7:23 pm Eastern
Yes, AFI is the only band in the history of music to make songs about … stuff.
Fucking deep man.
Also, the fact that they formed the band before learning to play their instruments (have they?) doesn’t surprise me.
9 April 2007 at 7:23 pm Eastern

Good point about the Stones, I was just providing a defense to expected criticisms, and you are right I tend to sort of gloss over much of what Neil Young did after “Harvest” because I don’t want to run in to “Trans” or that awful Rockabilly Album he did.
9 April 2007 at 7:28 pm Eastern
I find that statement very odd. Why does AFI stick out like a sore thumb, and why do you feel like a traitor? I’m confused. AFI certainly doesn’t stick out in a negative way…they are amazing (and imo the best band ever), and I’m proud to vote for them over ANYONE. So please, set me straight, what makes Weezer a better band? Dire Straights? The Pixies? The Foo Fighters? Van Halen??? I’m sorry but I just don’t even get your comment, unless I’m just misinterpreting it. Plus, it really is all subjective, isn’t it?
“It’s really all just subjective, isn’t it?” is such a cop out. Obviously no one’s going to arrive at any Objective Musical Standards, but you can’t just let such things devolve into relativism, or else why have sites like this or discussions about music at all? I think if you care about art, you can’t just hide behind subjective standards of “Welp, I likes what I likes.” It makes it sound like you don’t think about the music you listen to, which I doubt is the case.

I regret the last sentence, it is pretty unfair of me to criticize a band for not knowing how to play instruments when they started when Pavement, which I love, didn’t learn until their third album.

Is this all I missed today? Man, you people are lame. Did you know in some states it’s actually legal to fuck animals? I know this because I live in a state where a guy died by getting fucked by a horse. I’m sure you’ve seen the video all over the internet. And if you haven’t, be glad.

fucking afi fans. shut up. You’re not going to change anyone’s mind by rambling on about how much you love them. If you’re not going to be funny, just vote and go away.
doesn’t fit in the acronym, but I liked this:
My Chemical Imbalance
Abuncha Fucking Idiots (I hear that that is actually wot they originally called themselves, because they were well aware that they sucked and couldn’t play when the band was formed. No lie. However, they maintain that AFI always stood for A Fire Inside, but when they say that, they’re just referring to the current lineup. They’ve gone through two other basssts and one other gutarst snce they formed. Damnt. My key doesn’t work anymore.)uuuuuu
9 April 2007 at 8:39 pm Eastern
Talking Heads, The Clash and the Pixies are all losing. What a sad day this is. On a happier note, I’m glad to see the Sex Pistols losing. About damn time!
9 April 2007 at 8:41 pm Eastern
Hey, the poor wittle AFI fans are weally, weally sensitive. You don’t want them to start cwying, do you? Isn’t that what emo is all about?
9 April 2007 at 8:49 pm Eastern
Trey, I could not agree with you more about Nirvana. They are extremely dated, and at the height of their success, influence aside, their music was just not that great. I respect who they were and what they did, but the music was just good, not great.
I do disagree with Green Day over the Smashing Pumpkins. Not only did Green Day themselves sellout after Dookie, but so did their music. (Plus I blame them for influencing such lame acts as Sum 41, Simple Plan, and Good Charlotte). Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness is a monster epic album, and Siamese Dream is still genius to this day (and in my opinion, one of the top ten albums of all time). Both of these, and even Gish from 16 years ago, can go up against any present day rock/alt album.
